By buying from an LBMA Accredited Refinery, you are selecting a benchmark of trust and quality in the precious metals industry.
These refineries adhere to strict guidelines in terms of production quality, responsible sourcing, and overall operational excellence. They are audited regularly to ensure compliance with the LBMA’s Proactive Monitoring Programme, which includes checks on financial standing, operational competence, and environmental considerations.
To be accredited by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) for its prestigious Good Delivery List, a gold refinery must meet several stringent criteria:
- Operational for at least five years, with a minimum of three years in gold refining.
- Annual gold refining production of at least ten tons over the past three years.
- A minimum net worth of £15 million or its equivalent.
- Capability to produce bars conforming to LBMA Good Delivery standards.
- Implementation of comprehensive risk management policies covering financial, logistical aspects, and compliance areas such as anti-money laundering, bribery, corruption, and unforeseen circumstances.
- Adequate insurance coverage for precious metals.
- Proven satisfactory ownership, financial stability, and a solid reputation in the over-the-counter primary market.
- Adherence to the LBMA’s Responsible Sourcing Program, ensuring ethical sourcing in the gold supply chain.
- Successful completion of an independent audit and agreement to undergo annual reviews, maintaining the minimum refining production and net worth standards.
These requirements ensure only the highest-standard refineries are listed, reflecting their commitment to quality, ethical practices, and financial stability.
