There are countless different silver bullion products on the market today; however it seems as if two big dogs have topped the charts in terms of popularity and demand. The American Silver Eagle and the Silver Canadian Maple Leaf seem to bring home the trophy for the most popular silver bullion coins.
It seems that when people buy silver, they most often turn to these two items.
The Silver Eagle
The American Silver Eagle has been a favorite for many since its release in 1986. This one ounce American silver coin contains 1 troy ounce of .999 silver minted in one of the three following U.S. Mints: Philadelphia, West Point, and San Francisco. Each coin has a denomination of $1 and all specifications are guaranteed by the U.S. government.
The Silver Eagle is considered by many to be the most beautiful coin the U.S. has ever minted. This is a direct result of its iconic design. The obverse features a modern rendering of Adolph A. Weinman’s infamous Walking Liberty design.
This design was originally used on the Walking Half from 1916-1947 and has since become one of the most celebrated designs to ever be put on an U.S. coin. The reverse is adorned with an American Eagle, which undoubtedly represents liberty and national pride.
The demand for the American Silver Eagle coin is astronomical.
So far this year, approximately 43.8 million of these silver coins have been sold by the U.S. mint, leaving expectations of this years sales to be around 47 million coins. If 47 million Silver Eagles is reached, 2015 will be a record breaking year for the sale of these silver coins.
The Silver Maple Leaf
The Silver Canadian Maple Leaf has been among the top dogs of silver bullion from its very beginnings in 1988 at the Royal Canadian Mint.
This Canadian silver coin consists of 1 troy oz of .9999 silver, which makes this coin one of the finest official silver bullion coins around. Each coin has a denomination of 5 Canadian Dollars and is guaranteed by the Canadian government. The maple leaf has undergone some minor changes, but the basic design has remained the same.
The obverse features Queen Elizabeth II while the reverse depicts a maple leaf, which is a symbol of Canadian pride.
In 2014, the Silver Canadian Maple Leaf had record breaking sales that reached 29.2 million silver coins, and projections for this year are even higher. It seems that every year the RCM sells more and more of their Silver Maple Leafs, hence demand is steadily increasing for investment grade silver.
The demand for silver bullion is most definitely rising, and the proof is in the record breaking sales of these two silver coins. Bullion Shark carries both of these silver products at very competitive prices.
